Hints for Saving Money

All big cities are expensive for students, so we have tried to compile a series of budget options

Guest House Accommodation
A wide range of guest-houses and sleep-ins are available in Copenhagen (prices without breakfast around DKK 100.00). Also, 3-4 person rooms in budget hotels may be an economic option.

Eating out and Entertainment
All lunches during the conference are provided. In general, ethnic restaurants, e.g. Thai or Turkish cuisine, provide a good and reasonably priced meal. Also, most cafes serve dinner. The prices vary slightly depending on locality and quality, but dinner usually costs around DKK 100.00.

Transport
The public transport in Copenhagen includes buses and metro, as well as S-trains, which serve the greater Copenhagen region. Regional trains also serve Copenhagen Airport , allowing quick transport to the Central Station. Purchased tickets are valid for all four transport types. Price is determined by distance and time of travel. For example, one can use the same ticket to take the bus and then the S-train.

You may also get around in Copenhagen with City Bikes. About 2500 bikes are scattered around the city center in many racks. Here you can take out a bike for DKK 20.00 coin. The coin is returned when you return the bike to any rack, you don't have to go back to where you got it. Notice, that riding a City Bike is confined to the central part of city.

From the Airport
No need for a taxi or shuttlebus!
When you come out of the baggage area, follow the black marble walkway about 200 m . There you will find a kiosk where you can buy a train ticket to take you downtown (3 zone ticket, costs 25.50 DKK). Go down the steps on the right (Track 2) and take the train in the direction of Helsingør. Get of at Hovedbanegården (main Copenhagen train station)for the conference site, Tivoli Congress Center is located right behind the Main station.. The same ticket is also good on buses and S-trains in the city center.

Changing Money
There is a bank for changing money at the Copenhagen Airport in the baggage area. Note, that we use kroner in Denmark , not Euros. You get a better rate of exchange in a bank (or in the airport or main train station) than changing at a hotel.
