Various agencies offer sightseing tours in the city as well as excursions to sights in the neighbourhood of Copenhagen. The following are just a few suggestions:

Hans Christian Andersen's Copenhagen

This historical walk departs from Højbro Plads at the Absalon statue every Sunday at 10 a.m.

From Højbro Plads the tour goes through the quarter around Nikolaj Plads, where H.C. Andersen lived as a young man. It continues by Christiansborg, home of the national democracy, through Rådhusstræde, passes the city court and former City Hall, and ends at the statue of Hans Christian Andersen next to the City Hall.

In the Footsteps of Hans Christian Andersen

Explore Copenhagen as the world famous poet saw it. Go on a City Safari bike tour and see the places where he lived and influenced with his great stories and his queer personality.

A walk through the streets of Copenhagen

You will hear about the lifestyle of the locals, famous Danes, past and present, and about Hans Christian Andersen who spent most of his life in the old town (duration 2 hours).

The Carlsberg Visitors’ Centre

The Jacobsen Brewhouse is a live exhibition of beer culture and classic brewing skills. The bar of the two storey brewery, which is located in listed buildings of historical interest, offers visitors a panoramic view of the shining copper beer kettels in which Carlsberg's series of special beers, intended particularly for beer connoisseurs, are brewed.

Brewer's skills are displayed in a new way by means of light, sound, movement, interactive and special effects.

The Assistens Cemetery

Several well-known Danes are buried here, e.g.: H.C. Andersen, Niels Bohr, Søren Kirkegaard. The chapel of the cemetery is used for exhibitions.

Queen Margrethe II's Tapestries

The 11 tapestries, woven by »Les Gobelins« in Paris, recount the history of Denmark and the world, the Present and even the Future. They are hanging in the Great Hall of Christiansborg Palace.

Hamlet Castle Tour

Visits to the beautiful Frederiksborg Castle, in magnificent surroundings of Hillerød including the outstanding National Museum, the Chapel and the Knights' Hall. The tour continues past the Royal Family's summer residence - Fredensborg Palace by the idyllic Esrum lake. Upon arrival in Elsinore, you will see the outer walls and towers of impressive Kronborg Castle, the setting of Shakespeare's play Hamlet.

Sweden Tour

From Copenhagen to Elsinore, passing through fashionable resorts and beautiful residential areas. Crossing the narrow strait between Elsinore and Helsingborg, with a fantastic view of Hamlet's Castle - Kronborg - from the sea. When arriving in Sweden through the city of Helsingborg, before continuing to Lund. Lund is a university city from the middle ages, founded in 1020 by the Danish King Canute the Great. The city was the religious, cultural and commercial centre of Scandinavia until the Reformation. Visit to the Cathedral which has a magnificent 14th century astronomical clock and to the famous University of Lund. Lunch en route - not included in the tour price.

After lunch the trip continues to Malmø, the biggest city in Scania and the third largest in the whole of Sweden. After a short sightseeing tour, there will be time for shopping. On the way back to Denmark, we have to cross the Sound once again, but this time on the magnificent bridge from Malmø to Copenhagen.

Malmö, opposite to Copenhagen, is reached easily via the Øresund Bridge by road and rail. The train journey takes only 35 minutes.

Or, how about a mini-cruise from Copenhagen to Oslo by boat through the breath-taking Oslo Fjord, incl. two nights and the day in Oslo.
