Tours

The Local Organizing Committee is preparing some special tours:

1) Visit a Danish family

The best way to become acquainted with the local culture and lifestyle is to have a traditional Danish meal with a Danish family in their own home. For those who are interested, we will try to find hosts among colleagues with interest in children’s culture and literature. Free of charge.

Please send an e-mail telling briefly about yourself and your expectations to the family you would like to visit – e.g. educational, occupational, family with children. The visit can be arranged before, during or after the congress.

3) Hans Christian Andersen’s Birthplace and Museum, Odense

A day-tour to visit H.C. Andersen’s Birthplace and Museum in the city of Odense, by bus.

Though Odense has changed a great deal since Hans Christian Andersen was a child, certain buildings and specific areas in the city have remained and look as they did when the poet was running around there in his childhood days. Round about the city centre, it’s possible to find 13 granite squares, set in the pavement, marking places connected to Hans Christian Andersen. We will also visit the museums at his childhood home and the house where he was born.  www.museum.odense.dk/H_C_Andersen/H_C_Andersens_Hus.aspx?lang=en

The trip includes a visit to The Tinder-Box – A Cultural Center for Children, next-door neighbour to The Hans Christian Andersen Museum. Experience a magical family outing with storytelling, theatre, costumes, and much more. In the story-telling room, you may listen to fairy tales, and in the large theatre room you may be part of the fairy tale itself. http://www.fyrtoejet.com/

App. 500 DKK, incl. transport, lunch and entrance fees.

Please, indicate your interest on the registration form.
