Trip 1 - Excursion to Äspö Underground Laboratory, Nuclear Waste and Fuel Management (SKB)

Time:   June 11-12, 2004

Description:   Leave from Copenhagen by bus, travel to Sweden probably by ferry, to Äspö Underground Laboratory. Visit in the tunnel to a depth of about 350 m, to hear about geochemical and biogeochemical experiments in progress and information about the Swedish Nuclear Waste and Fuel Management. There will be some time for seeing sites along the way.
Optimum number:   25 - 50 persons

Trip 2 - Geology of SW Sweden – High-grade rocks and deformation zones

June 12-13, 2004, start from Lund , 9:00.

Description:

 

We will begin from Lund Saturday morning and visit the Paleozoic Tornquist Zone, Kullen, at the SW margin of the Baltic Shield, then travel through Söndrum, Varberg (overnight) and Ullared to Bua, in the Mylonite Zone. Along the way, we will examine and discuss polymetamorphic Precambrian gneisses, charnockites and decompressed eclogites. We will return to Lund about 19:00 Sunday.

Cost: 200 Euros single, 170 Euros double. Both prices include breakfast, two lunches and dinner Saturday
