Leave from Copenhagen by bus, travel to Sweden probably
by ferry, to Äspö Underground Laboratory. Visit in the
tunnel to a depth of about 350 m, to hear about geochemical and biogeochemical
experiments in progress and information about the Swedish Nuclear
Waste and Fuel Management. There will be some time for seeing sites
along the way. |

Trip 2 - Geology of SW Sweden – High-grade
rocks and deformation zones

Description: |

We will begin from Lund Saturday morning and visit
the Paleozoic Tornquist Zone, Kullen, at the SW margin of the Baltic
Shield, then travel through Söndrum, Varberg (overnight) and
Ullared to Bua, in the Mylonite Zone. Along the way, we will examine
and discuss polymetamorphic Precambrian gneisses, charnockites
and decompressed eclogites. We will return to Lund about 19:00
Sunday. |
